Chelsea fans have a reason to smile about as one of their former greats has come back home to Stamford Bridge...not to play but to lead the club.
The premier league officially confirmed last week that Frank Lampard has been appointed as the new Chelsea manager.The Chelsea legend is taking his place as successor to Maurizio Sarri who left the
"BLUES" earlier last month to become Juventus head coach.
The 1st blow for the Londoners was when the prolific Eden Hazard left the club for Spanish Giants Real Madrid sometime last month....the second blow was the departure former head coach Maurizio Sarri who moved back to his homeland to take the Juventus job.These two departures left the team vulnerable.....and the hunt for the man who was to be at the helm for Chelsea begun........a lot of rumours emerged....some going to the extent of saying the "SPECIAL ONE"(Jose Mourinho) was coming back to the team....but these rumours have been officially put to rest with the appointment Lampard as the new head coach.The timing couldn't be more perfect,especially after two major departures i talked about earlier.Frank is a Chelsea veteran and knows the culture and history of the Club....he brings with him to Stamford Bridge the so much needed fresh start for the London giants.....He was a prolific player for "Blues" and hopes are high that he will also be a good coach as evidence of his coaching abilities and style were made manifest at Championship side Derby last season.
Many Chelsea fans believe the appointment of Lampard as manager is a good development,which will bring about positive results to the club,they say it was long overdue......while a certain portion of the fans believe that bringing the former Chelsea midfield maestro back is a bit premature....they say it's too soon and that he does not yet possess the know-how and experience to guide a formidable side like Chelsea to greater heights....only time will tell.....we just have to wait and see what transpires............
